ABOUT US
We Are The Resistance strives to dismantle exclusionary policies and broaden Spain and eventually European environmental activism and policy-making efforts to include approaches that centre women, girls, and gender diverse peoples of the global majority, who are disproportionately affected by the climate crisis.
Through campaigning, audiovisual storytelling, and research, we aim to dismantle policies that perpetuate their exclusion and oppression and advocate for policies that prioritise their liberation and voices.
Our current focus as a grassroots movement is to influence policy and change attitudes in Spain.
We apply a feminist, intersectional, and decolonial lens to all of our work, actively challenging harmful capitalist, colonial, and paternalistic narratives about women of the global majority in Spain.
OUR MISSION.
We Are The Resistance is an NGO committed to elevating the experiences and voices of racialized women and non-binary individuals who are environmental defenders at the forefront of the climate crisis. Our focus is on harnessing the power of audiovisual storytelling to bring their stories to the forefront. We recognize the disproportionate impact the climate crisis has on these communities, especially those marginalized in European environmental policy and decision-making.
Our campaigns are strategically designed to challenge and reform the policies that contribute to their marginalization. By spotlighting their struggles and resilience, we aim to shift the narrative and influence policy changes that are inclusive and representative of their experiences.
Our ultimate goal is to ensure that the perspectives and needs of these environmental defenders are not only heard but become a central and integral part of shaping a sustainable and equitable environmental future. We believe that true environmental progress can only be achieved when it is inclusive and acknowledges the diverse voices that are often left unheard in the climate conversation.
OUR
VISION.
We envision a world where women, girls, and gender-diverse people are not just included but actively leading environmental decision-making. A world where policies are not only inclusive but intentionally designed to be racially and gender-responsive.
